Art Deco District Welcome Center

Information Centers, South Beach/Miami Beach

Fodor's Review:

Run by the Miami Design Preservation League, the center provides information about the buildings in the district. A gift shop sells 1930s to 1950s art-deco memorabilia, posters, and books on Miami's history. Several tours -- covering Lincoln Road, Española Way, North Beach, the entire Art Deco District, among others -- start here. You can rent audiotapes for a self-guided tour, join one of the regular morning (Wednesday and Friday through Sunday) or Thursday-evening walking tours, or take a bicycle tour. All of the options provide detailed histories of the art-deco hotels. Don't miss the special boat tours during Art Deco Weekend, in early January.
