Besides its great beach-to-bay location, this inn has historic value. In the 1930s, Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist and conservationist "Ding" Darling, namesake of Sanibel's refuge, stayed in its historic cottages, which are the most charming of the property's accommodations. Water-sports enthusiasts especially like all the available rentals and charters out of the marina. The pool bar and Crow's Nest lounge, both of which serve food, are popular with locals and visitors alike. Pros: great views, lots of water-sports options, free Wi-Fi. Cons: beach is across the road from accommodations, rooms are bland.

My wife and I just returned from a six night stay at 'Tween Waters. We stayed in a cottage with a view of the Gulf. It was off-season (just before Christmas) and quiet. The cottages have recently been renovated and were very nice. Ours included a range, full size fridge, microwave, sink, all plates and utensils. Atmosphere at the inn is very quaint and tropical. Captiva itself is very unspoiled. The beach was beautiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The accomodations include a nice continental breakfast. You can't beat being able to watch the sun set over the Gulf - everyone comes out to watch. The Old Captiva House Restaurant was top notch - expensive, but worth it. Crows Nest Bar had an interesting crowd and live music most nights. All in all, a great experience; we plan to return next year. Also, they are dog friendly.
