$$-$$$$, Cape Coral and North Fort Myers
Fodor's Review:
If you're looking for no-frills escape and fishing, this aptly named lodge, built in 1926 on a sweep of green lawn with magnificent views out to sea, may do the trick. Rooms are small and simple, and the sunny restaurant dishes up creative surprises. It's in the fishing village of Pineland, on the edge of Pine Island Sound, settled in the 16th century by Calusa Indians and stocked with charming Cracker fishing shacks in the 1920s. Pros: waterfront view, historic, great restaurant. Cons: old digs, far from other restaurants, far from beach.
