Nature Preserves, Marco Island
Fodor's Review:
In the midst of 110,000-acre Rookery Bay National Estuarine Reserve, Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center interprets the Everglades environment and local history with interactive models, aquariums, original art, a film, and classes. It's on the edge of the estuary, about five minutes east of Marco's north bridge on Collier Boulevard. A new audio tour option was initiated in 2007 for a nominal fee. In 2008, the center is scheduled to debut a million-dollar, 250-foot pedestrian suspension bridge that will span the reserve's creek from the center's second floor.
