$$-$$$, Pensacola
Fodor's Review:
After a complete smackdown by Hurricane Ivan in 2004, it took this local institution two years to shake itself off and reopen its doors. Its rich heritage remains: the Crowne Plaza is on the site of the restored historic Louisville & Nashville (L&N) railroad passenger depot, which now houses the lobby, lounges, shops, and meeting rooms. A 15-story glass tower, attached to the train depot by a glass atrium, features guest rooms with all new furniture, and incredible views of historic Pensacola. Bi-level penthouse suites have whirlpool baths. The hotel's proximity to downtown dining and nightlife, along with its amenities, makes it a good choice for business travelers.
