$-$$$$, Panama City Beach
Fodor's Review:
The pool area at this expansive, kidney-shape beachfront resort has waterfalls, faux-rock formations, lush foliage, thatch-roof huts, and Jamon, billed as the resort's own "Polynesian Islander," who lights the poolside torches every night. You might see why this tiki schtick appeals to spring breakers, who flock to the place in huge numbers, but if peace and quiet are your thing in spring, this is the wrong place -- and the wrong town. The rest of the year, though, it's a pleasant enough retreat for families: kids enjoy the myriad planned activities of the Splash Around Kids Club and the beachfront game room, and parents can simply relax at the in-pool grotto bar. All rooms have terra-cotta tile floors, tropical-print bedspreads, wicker furnishings, and private balconies with views of the gulf. If you want a decent place to plant the whole family without having to leave the grounds for food or entertainment, this is it.
