Hay-Adams Hotel

$$$, Downtown

User Rating: ***** 5.0

Fodor's Review:

Two famous Americans -- statesman John Hay and historian Henry Adams -- once owned homes on the site where this Italian Renaissance mansion now stands, next to Lafayette Park and the White House. The elegant boutique hotel offers outstanding personalized service, and the White House views from rooms on the sixth, seventh, and eighth floors are stunning. Other rooms, dressed in beige and pale sage green, face St. John's church or the interior, and are less expensive. The Lafayette serves exquisite American cuisine, and the hotel's bar is one of the most sophisticated you will find anywhere.

A Wonderful Hotel

Posted by Gabe from Las Vegas, NV on 5/23/06

Having stayed at the Willard and The Ritz Carlton, The Hay Adams is my new "favorite" DC hotel. Suites with a white house view are by bar the best (and most costly), starting at $2,000 a night.

A Swank Hotel

If you wear jeans, you will feel out of place in this hotel. Lots of VIP's in the lobby and the hotel bar, after all this is one of he most expensive hotels in Washington.
