One of the most venerable restaurants in the city covers its walls with photos of politicians and other notables who have come here for the food and the attentive service. The standbys are best -- chopped salad, grilled tuna or swordfish, lamb shank, veal meat loaf. More than half of the menu is seafood.

would not go back

I took my wife here for her 30th bday. Our concierge recommended it and promised something special for her. He even gave the restaurant her name, etc. Not only was the waitstaff incompetent but the waiter we had was simply rude. He took the wine glasses away before asking if we wanted wine. He tried hurrying us when we wanted to enjoy our cocktails. Then, served our salads with our dinner. If that was not bad enough, when it came time for our "special" dessert, he asked" what do you want for dessert?" I pulled him aside and said that we were supposed to have something special. His response was "we can put a candle in anything you buy.." I was shocked and after tipping only 10%, left and vowed never to come back.
The food was decent but the service sealed the deal. Luckily we went to the Sofitel for after dinner drinks and had the greatest server ever.

Love the city. Love the history. I only wish my food was as good as I expected it to be. Not to say that it was terrible, but for the price I was very disappointed.
