Tabard Inn

$$-$$$, Contemporary, Dupont Circle

Fodor's Review:

Fading portraits and overstuffed furniture make the lobby lounge look like an antiques store, but this hotel restaurant's culinary sensibilities are thoroughly modern. The menu, which changes daily, consistently offers interesting seafood and vegetarian options. A popular entrée is the branzino, a flaky white fish, served with artichokes, preserved lemon, and lentils in an olive sauce. A vegetarian option might be porcini risotto with kalamata olives, Roma tomatoes, and pesto. In good weather you can dine in the courtyard.
