$$, Mediterranean, Downtown
Fodor's Review:
Celebrity chef Todd English's D.C. outpost seems always to have a crowded dining room at lunch and dinner. The upstairs room, which overlooks the open kitchen, is where the action is, but the spacious downstairs dining room is more comfortable, albeit formal. Hearty starters include English's special butternut-squash-stuffed tortelli and flatbread with goat cheese and escargots. Most plates have so much going on that there are bound to be some hits and some misses, but the spit-roasted chicken is done very well.
