Capitol Hill Suites

$-$$, Capitol Hill

User Rating: ** 1.6

Fodor's Review:

On a quiet residential street beside the Library of Congress, this all-suites hotel's proximity to the office buildings of the U.S. House of Representatives means that it's often filled with visiting lobbyists when Congress is in session. Although the hotel is not much to look at from the outside, the three sizes of guest rooms, from Junior Suites to Deluxe Suites, are spacious and comfortable, and price differences between them are small. There's a fireplace in the sun-filled lobby.

A complete disappointment

Relying upon the "Washington,DC with Kids" guide, I booked this room based upon its location to the Capitol and to a metro stop. It was $320 per night, but I was willing to pay for a suite and for convenience. When we arrived, the hotel informed us that there would be no electricity that night (no air, no alarms, no elevator). They offered us no perks or discounts for this inconvenience. When we went to the room, the "suite" was a small room with a fold out sofa, a sink and minifrig. We immediately checked out and went to the Embassy Suites on 22nd Street, which was delightful.
