$$, Asian, Chinatown
Fodor's Review:
Asian-Latin fusion may not sound like a winning idea, but it turns out surprisingly well at this lively bi-level restaurant, part of New York-based chef Richard Sandoval's growing empire. A sceney bar and a large airy upstairs dining room get a lift from eye-catching art: fired clay "baked potatoes" hanging from the ceiling and scattered along one orange wall in a sort of 3-D mural and a tangled metal sculpture. Food juxtapositions are just as audacious with crunchy, spicy, sweet, and salty flavors shown to advantage in dishes like arepas de puerco, a pork dish with hoisin and the Thai shrimp lettuce wrap.
