$-$$, Southern, Downtown
Fodor's Review:
Swanky and chic, Zola channels a 1940s vibe with its snug banquettes, oval bar carts, and dramatic red flourishes. Food is fun without being over-the-top, and dishes have a Southern bent. Crisp rock shrimp spill over honeyed corn bread, a veal steak sidles up to polenta fritters, and rainbow chard gets a hit of applewood-smoked bacon. Dessert follows suit with sweets such as lemon chiffon pudding and chocolate fondue with Rice Krispies treats. Cocktail names reflect the restaurant's location inside the Spy Museum; there are daily wine flights as well. The bar menu includes a burger and a (slightly glammed-up) lobster roll.
