The Capital Grille

$$$, Steak, Capitol Hill

User Rating: ***** 5.0

Fodor's Review:

A few blocks from the U.S. Capitol, this New England-tinged steakhouse is a favorite among Republican congressmen. Politics aside, the cuisine, wine list, and surroundings are all top-shelf. Don't let the meat hanging in the window distract you from the fact that this restaurant has a lot more to offer than fine dry-aged porterhouse cuts and delicious cream-based potatoes. For instance, don't miss the panfried calamari with hot cherry peppers. A second location in Tysons Corner has the same menu but a slightly different wine list.

Excellent meal, excellent service

Posted by Lan from South Jersey on 10/24/05

My husband's oysters on the half shell were served with two sauces. One, the tradional cocktail sauce and the other a more vinagrette type sauce which he loved. My lobster bisque was excellent. I am not a big eater and our server, Traci, was very accomodating when I asked for the crab and lobster cakes as a main course. They were wonderful and so was the corn salsa served with them. My husband had a filet which was done to perfection. The potatoes lyonnaise rounded out a perfect meal.
