Fodor's Review:
On the bank of the Potomac River, the gem of the D.C. arts scene is home to the National Symphony Orchestra, the Washington Ballet, and the Washington National Opera. It also pulls the best out-of-town acts, regardless of medium, in part because it's home to three of the most striking performance spaces in D.C. -- the Concert Hall, the Opera House, and the Eisenhower Theater. It also draws an eclectic group of performers to its smaller venues, including the Terrace Theater, showcasing chamber groups and experimental works; the Theater Lab, home to cabaret-style performances like the audience-participation hit Sheer Madness; the KC Jazz Club; and a 320-seat family theater. But that's not all. On the Millennium Stage in the center's Grand Foyer, you can catch free performances almost any day at 6 PM. Outstanding local jazz groups, classical students from New York's Juilliard School, international dance, or avant-garde drama might be on tap. On performance days, a free shuttle bus runs between the Center and the Foggy Bottom/GWU Metro stop.
