With fine-wine shops, trendy boutiques, fashionable cafés and restaurants, and pricey waterfront homes, the Marina is San Francisco's yuppiest neighborhood. Shoppers come from all over town to browse along Chestnut Street, the Marina's main thoroughfare. The neighborhood seems to attract more than its share of recent law-school graduates, MBAs, and the like, and the bar scene may remind you of a fraternity party; on the upside, even at night the Marina is extremely safe. If boutique browsing and bar hopping don't do it for you, the exquisite 1915 Palace of Fine Arts alone is worth a trip here.
