One of the most genteel-looking motels in town, this two-story motor court near the busy intersection of Union and Van Ness is dressed up with wrought-iron railings and benches, hanging plants, and pebbled exterior walkways facing the parking lot. Rooms, with floral bedspreads and brass beds, are on the small side; however, about half of them have kitchenettes or full kitchens, and some of the units are two-bedroom suites. Morning pastries and coffee are served in the lobby, along with a free newspaper.

It used to be better

I've stayed at this hotel many times over the last 10 years and have always loved the location, the free breakfast and large rooms, the service. Overall really great for the price. Somewhere along the line the ownership changed though and a couple things took a slide. Breakfast used to be fresh fruit, muffins, croissants, coffee, juice. That has now downgraded to donuts, coffee and juice. Also the last two times I stayed here the small parking lot was crammed with furniture, lamps, etc. That was okay the first time as I thought they might be remodeling - but then several months later it still looked the same. It made me feel like I was sleeping at a garage sale.
