$$-$$$, Nob Hill
Fodor's Review:
A stained-glass dome and a dramatic 360-degree mural depicting scenes of early San Francisco and the gold rush dominate the lobby of this stately yet comfortable hotel, operated by Marriott. Rooms achieve understated elegance with a mix of English-country-manor-style furnishings accented with Asian artwork and accessories. Nice touches include 300-thread-count Frette sheets, plush robes, and nightly turndown service. There's a heated towel rack and even a tiny TV in each bathroom. Fournou's Ovens -- known for its Provençal decor, 54-square-foot oven, and world-class wine cellar -- is usually packed. Complimentary coffee or tea is delivered to your room each morning upon request.
