Washington Square Inn

$$$, North Beach

User Rating: *** 2.8

Fodor's Review:

Overlooking the tree-lined park of its namesake, and surrounded by fine shops and cafés, this gracious corner B&B sits at the foot of Telegraph Hill in the heart of North Beach. Smallish and larger rooms are individually decorated with Venetian and other Italian touches such as imported marble and tiles, and most rooms have gas fireplaces. Beds have 400-thread-count sheets. Some of the rooms have private decks overlooking a landscaped courtyard, and most bathrooms have whirlpool tubs. In the lobby, with its gleaming mahogany fireplace and brass chandeliers, free wine and antipasti are served in the evening, and a full Italian breakfast is served by the front windows.

Unpleasant

Nice rooms, nice location. Atmosphere's a little precious. Management is rude. Sort of like a mean Victorian aunt, with a streak of paranoia.
