$-$$, Greek, Downtown
Fodor's Review:
This cheerful eatery with an outdoor patio bustles with office workers and members of San Diego's small but active Greek community. Appetizers such as taramosalata (fish roe dip), hummus, and stuffed grape leaves are particularly tasty. Entrées include arni psito (roast leg of lamb), a very convincing rendition of moussaka, and the house Greek pasta, with garlic, onion, and cheese. The galaktobouriko (a layering of crisp phyllo pastry, eggy custard, and clove-scented syrup) makes an excellent dessert. Athens Market seems as timeless as Greece itself, and remains a local classic.
