Fodor's Review:
A boutique hotel occupying a coveted corner in Del Mar, just steps from restaurants, shopping, and the beach, L'Auberge is modeled after a Tudor-style inn that welcomed the Hollywood elite for decades. The old inn is long gone, replaced by this one reeking of Old World charm: half-timbered walls, open beam ceilings, fireplaces in nooks throughout the public areas and in many rooms, year-round gardens blooming with azaleas and camellias. Rooms, wrapped around a central courtyard, have private balconies or patios with ocean or garden views, marble bathrooms, rich pink-and-green pastel fabrics, sitting areas, and workable desks. Service here is discrete and friendly.
