$$$$, Berkeley
Fodor's Review:
Straddling the Oakland-Berkeley border, the hotel beckons like a gleaming white castle in the hills. Traveling executives come for the business amenities, including T-1 Internet connections, guest e-mail addresses, and oversize desks. The Claremont also draws honeymooners and leisure travelers with its luxurious suites, therapeutic massages, and personalized yoga workouts at the on-site spa. The rooms on the spa-side of the hotel glow with new fixtures and furniture. Some offer spa tubs and, if you're high enough up, spectacular Bay views. Another advantage: the scents wafting upwards from the spa treatment rooms.
