Los Angeles: Gay & Lesbian Travel

Gay & Lesbian Travel

L.A. has a large and visible gay community, and West Hollywood, especially Santa Monica Boulevard, is at the heart of it, with Silver Lake another popular enclave. L.A. joins in Christopher Street West's Gay and Lesbian Pride Celebration each June, which culminates with a parade through the streets of West Hollywood. Santa Monica Boulevard sees extra action on Halloween with a massive costume carnival. Many of the bars and restaurants along Santa Monica Boulevard have flyers and free gay publications stacked near their entrances.

A variety of free monthly and weekly publications, including Frontiers and Lesbian News, provide up-to-date information on nightlife and entertainment. The West Hollywood Convention and Visitors Bureau gives details on local events and community services. The L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center is also a good resource.
