Bayside Hotel

Fodor's Review:

Tucked snugly into a narrow corner lot, the supremely casual Bayside's greatest asset is its prime spot directly across from the beach, within walkable blocks from the Third Street Promenade and Santa Monica Pier. Expect no frills. Rooms are tidy with access via exterior walkway; there's a small front office instead of lobby and the parking is free but drivers must negotiate a cramped lot. If keeping cool is a must, request one of the seven rooms with air-conditioning or one of those with unobstructed ocean views and balconies. Book early for summer weekends; the hotel typically sells out then. Weeknight rates are $20 less.

  • Hotel Details: 45 rooms
  • In-room: no a/c (some), kitchen (some), refrigerator (some), Wi-Fi.
  • In-hotel: parking (free).
  • Credit Cards: AE, D, MC, V
