Some of the menu items at Bombay Cafe are strictly authentic, others have been lightened up a bit to suit Southern California sensibilities, and a few are truly innovative (e.g., California tandoori salad with lemon-cilantro dressing, green apple-cranberry chutney, ginger margarita). Regulars (and there are many) swear by the chili-laden lamb frankies (burritolike snacks sold by vendors on the beaches of Bombay), sev puri (wafers topped with onions, potatoes, and chutneys) and Sindhi chicken, a complex poached-then-sautéed recipe with an exotically seasoned crust.
