NoHo Arts District

Fodor's Review:

Don't let the name fool you -- this West Coast enclave bears little resemblance to its New York namesake. In fact, the name NoHo was spawned when the city, desperate to reinvent this depressed area, abbreviated the region's North Hollywood name. A square mile at the intersection of Lankershim and Magnolia in North Hollywood, the NoHo Arts District has slowly tried to transform itself into a cultural hot spot that includes several theaters showcasing aspiring young actors, dance schools, a comedy club, art galleries, boutiques, and restaurants. The results are mixed at best. The month of May brings the annual Theater and Arts Festival: free live theater performances, arts exhibits from an eclectic range of southern California's visual artists, music, an arts and crafts marketplace, dance showcases, and a children's area are all part of the fun.
