There are countless good Chinese restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley, but Lake Spring stands out; in fact, it's one of the most renowned Shanghai-style eateries in America. Unlike many of its frenetic, no-frills neighbors, Lake Spring's dining room exudes a refreshing calm. Devotees come for the tender, slow-cooked pork rump; spinach-tinted jade shrimp; cured pork with bamboo-shoot casserole; and plump scallops in garlic sauce.
