Pershing Square

Squares, Downtown

Fodor's Review:

The city's cultures come together in one of the oldest parks, named in honor of WWI general John J. Pershing. Opened in 1866, the park was renovated in the 1990s by architect Ricardo Legorreta and landscape architect Laurie Olin with colorful walls, fountains, and towers. Despite the fact that it has not aged well, Pershing remains an icon of Downtown L.A. Nearby office workers and visitors still utilize the area for a stroll or lunch break. From mid-November to mid-January, the place perks up with holiday events and the outdoor ice rink.
