Greystone Mansion

Houses / Mansions, Beverly Hills

Fodor's Review:

L.A.'s answer to the chateaus of Europe, this 1927 neo-Gothic mansion was owned by oilman Edward Doheny (Doheny Drive is named after him). Now owned by the city of Beverly Hills, it sits on 18 1/2 landscaped acres and has been used in such films as The Witches of Eastwick and Indecent Proposal. Though you can't actually enter the mansion itself, the gardens are open for self-guided tours, and you can get an idea of the exquisite interior by peeking through the windows. Picnics are permitted in specified areas during hours of operation, and, sporadically, concerts are held in the mansion's courtyard on summer afternoons.
