Fodor's Review:
This member of the Natural History Museum family is sunk, bunkerlike, half underground. A bas-relief around four sides depicts life in the Pleistocene era, and the museum has more than 3 million Ice Age fossils. Exhibits include reconstructed, life-size skeletons of mammoths, wolves, sloths, eagles, and condors. The fishbowl-like, glass-enclosed laboratory is a real attention getter -- here you can watch paleontologists as they clean, identify, catalog, and piece together bits of fossils excavated from the nearby asphalt deposits. The La Brea Story, a short documentary film, is shown every 15-30 minutes. A hologram magically puts flesh on 9,000-year-old "La Brea Woman."
