Concerts, Downtown
Fodor's Review:
Also part of the Music Center, the 3,200-seat Dorothy Chandler Pavilion is an elegant space with plush red seats and a giant gold curtain. It presents an array of music programs and the L.A. Opera's classics from September through June. Music director Plácido Domingo encourages fresh work; in 2006, for instance, he ushered in Grendel, a new opera staged by the hypercreative director Julie Taymor. There's also a steady flow of touring ballet and modern ballet companies.
