Promenades / Boardwalks, Santa Monica
Fodor's Review:
Stretch your legs along this pedestrians-only three-block stretch of 3rd Street, just a whiff away from the Pacific, lined with jacaranda trees, ivy-topiary dinosaur fountains, strings of lights, and branches of nearly every major U.S. retail chain. Outdoor cafés, street vendors, movie theaters, and a rich nightlife make this a main gathering spot for locals, visitors, and the homeless. It's fun to watch the mix of people here, from elderly couples out for a bite to skateboarders and street musicians. There's plenty of parking in city structures on the streets flanking the promenade.
