Established in 1848 and with a population of about 120,000, Napa is the oldest town as well as the largest city in the valley. It has been undergoing a cultural rebirth that has encompassed the 2001 opening of Copia: The American Center for Wine, Food & the Arts, the sprucing up of the downtown area, and the reopening of the glamorous 1880 Napa Valley Opera House after years of renovations.
