Matanzas Creek Winery

Wineries / Breweries, Santa Rosa

User Rating: ***** 4.8

Fodor's Review:

The visitor center at beautiful Matanzas Creek Winery sets itself apart with an understated Japanese aesthetic, with a tranquil fountain and a koi pond. Best of all, huge windows overlook a vast field of lavender plants. The best time to visit is in June, when the lavender blooms and perfumes the air. The winery specializes in three varietals -- sauvignon blanc, merlot, and chardonnay -- though in 2005 they also started producing a popular dry rosé. After you taste the wines, ask for the self-guided garden-tour book before taking a stroll.

Good wine tour

Posted by Vita from Palo Alto, CA on 4/4/06

We just passed by and decided to stop. Result: we are club members now. They have such a gooooood porter for members only... The guys have a very good tasting and tour. Tour is short and interesting enought even for our 9 year old boy. I have a feeling that tour is by appointment, we might just join someone else's tour.
