Fodor's Review:
The look may be old-school romance, with candlelit tables in an 1884 fieldstone building, but the cooking is deliciously of the moment. Chef Hiro Sone juices up Italian and southern-French cuisine with unexpected twists, in dishes such as sweetbreads with braised endive, burdock, and black truffle sauce. A few, like the sake-marinated black cod in a shiso broth, draw on Sone's Japanese background. Inventive desserts, courtesy of Sone's wife, Lissa Doumani, might include a maple sugar crème brûlée served in a baked apple. Servers gracefully and unobtrusively attend to every dropped fork or half-full water glass; they're head and shoulders above the enthusiastic but inexpert staff you can find at many other local restaurants.

The consummate French country dining experience with an American flair. Service was perfect. The sommelier seemed a little put off by questions about his wine list, but his suggestions were perfect. The best dining experience this side of the Cote D'Or.Definitely worth a visit.

Our last dinner in wine country was at Terra. We could not have picked a better place to cap a wonderful trip. The service was very attentive, the place charming and the food simply terrific. We indeed ate the best meal of our stay at Terra. It beat all other restaurants handily. The fish was perfectly done, the beef brisket perfect, deserts devinely tasty. Terra is fully deserving of the enviable reputation. One "faux pas" of note, however. The Gentleman`s table next to ours (obviously influential people of some importance to Terra)received some amuse bouches from the Maitre D` and a visit from the Chef. We, and all other diners, did not. We immediately felt less special than they. I say, treat ALL Clients equally well. No more, no less. Other than this incident, the experience was well worth repeating.
