Chef Janos Wilder was one of the first to reinvent Southwestern cuisine, and the menu, wine list, and service place this restaurant among the finest in the West. The hillside location on the grounds of the Westin La Paloma is a stunning backdrop for such dishes as sweet and spicy glazed quail with butternut-squash cannelloni, salmon with a scallop mousse served on polenta, and venison loin with chile-lime paste and pecans. Have a drink or a more casual meal of Caribbean fare next door at J Bar, a lively and lower-priced venue for sampling Janos's innovative cuisine.

Not Worth Your Time Or Money

The first couple of times we stayed at the Westin La Paloma we had dinner here because it was so convenient. But no more. Neither the food nor the service justify the prices. There are MUCH better choices in Tucson, e.g. Acacia or Soleil.RATING: 2.0
Overrated

We were very disappointed in Janos. I don't understand all the glowing reviews. Our steaks were overcooked, and we had to ask the server for steak knives. A well-done filet mignon is the kiss of death in my book! The service wasn't bad, but I didn't feel it measured up other fine dining places. I don't like to get the feeling that the servers don't like their jobs but are putting up a front, which is how I felt there. My husband and I feel like we blew a lot of money on a ho-hum dinner experience.RATING: 2.0

Dined here with my out-of-town family last week; my Manhattanite sister said she felt pampered by the amazing staff and we all loved the food. It's obvious that his experience as one of Tucson's first great chefs has made this one of the best restaurants in the West.RATING: 5.0
The awards had to be fake!

We spent allot of money for food that was very poor. The Macaronni grill had better food, I'm not sure why you keep rating this restaurant, "very Good" the other couple had to send their food back and were very dissatisfied. Don't waste your hard earned money.RATING: 2.4
Atmospheric Prices

The food might be above-average but the Janos must think he's paying rent in Manhattan to command the prices he's getting. Winning the James Beard award still doesn't justify these prices. Plus he rarely supports the local community anymore. He's looking for a captive audience that stays at the hotel.RATING: 3.8
