Camera devices are mounted on several streetlights and select freeways to catch speeders and red-light runners, and their locations are constantly changing. You may think you've gotten away with a few miles over the limit and return home only to find a ticket waiting for you.
Many accidents in the Valley are created as a result of confusion in the left-turn lanes. Each individual jurisdiction varies: in some, the left-turn arrow precedes the green light and in other jurisdictions it follows the green light. As well, the yellow lights tend to be shorter than most drivers are accustomed to so be prepared for sudden stops and watch intersections for yellow-light runners. Weekdays 6 AM to 9 AM and 4 PM to 6 PM, the center or left-turn lanes on the major surface arteries of 7th Street and 7th Avenue become one-way traffic-flow lanes between McDowell Road and Dunlap Avenue. These specially marked lanes are dedicated mornings to north-south traffic (into downtown) and afternoons to south-north traffic (out of downtown).
