The name says it all. You won't find any expense-account fat cats in the breakfast room sipping the fair-trade coffee and checking the stock prices. Instead you'll find earnest, young, and young-at-heart travelers from all over the world and North America -- the kind of people who often speak French or try to and are eager to plunge into the local scene. They're also the kind of people who take the time to find really cheap lodgings in really desirable areas. You can get a very basic but clean room for C$55 or a dorm bed for as little as $20. All guests can use the kitchen facilities. Pros: inexpensive, friendly, and attracts an interesting crowd of travelers. Cons: cramped and a bit rustic.
