Auberge de la Place Royale

$$, Vieux-Montréal

Fodor's Review:

What was once a 19th-century rooming house is now a waterfront B&B overlooking the Vieux-Port. A magnificent wood staircase links the floors of this stone building. Antiques and reproductions furnish the spacious guest rooms, some of which have whirlpool tubs. A full breakfast is served either on a sidewalk terrace on warm sunny days or in a dining room when it cold or wet. The service is very attentive. Pros: wonderful views of the Vieux-Port; attentive service; pleasant sidewalk restaurant. Cons: parking is very difficult.

Just like Family

Have been visiting Montreal every year for the past 12+ years and have been staying at Auberge de la Place Royale for the past 6 years. What a wonderful find for us. The rooms are fabulous --- beautiful architecture, warm and inviting. Nice river views. The atmosphere is quiet and service is above and beyond expectations. It is run by a lovely family who are incredibly attentive to their guests. We have stayed at many places in Montreal and cannot imagine staying anywhere else ever again.
