Food / Candy, Little Italy
Fodor's Review:
This is the biggest, best, and liveliest of the city's public markets. On weekends in summer and fall, crowds swarm the half acre or so of outdoor produce stalls, looking for the fattest tomatoes, sweetest melons, and juiciest strawberries. Restaurants and shops on the periphery sell meat, fish, cheese, sausage, bread, pastries, and other delicacies. In spring, Jean-Talon is overrun with gardeners rushing to get the best plants and seeds. The market is in the northern end of the city but is easy to get to by Métro.
