$$$-$$$$, Downtown
Fodor's Review:
The location is certainly majestic: King Edward VII entertains the pigeons in the square across the street, and La Baie department store, St. Patrick's Basilica, and Christ Church Cathedral are all within 200 yards of the front door. After a busy day of shopping and museum-hopping, you can take a relaxing swim in the glassed-in pool on the rooftop, or just take in the views from the sundeck. All the rooms and suites have fully equipped kitchens, but you might not get a chance to use them because it's easier to find a restaurant than a grocery store anywhere near here. The art deco building itself was designed by Ernest Cormier (1885-1980) and was converted to a hotel with a rooftop sundeck in 2004. Pros: great in-room kitchen facilities; excellent rooftop sunbathing; good shopping nearby. Cons: not much nightlife nearby.
