Queue de Cheval

$$$$, Steak, Downtown

User Rating: **** 4.4

Fodor's Review:

The white-aproned chefs toiling away under the 20-foot-wide copper canopy look more like pagan priests engaged in some arcane ritual than cooks grilling slabs of dry-aged, prime beef on a huge open grill. The meat is sold by the pound, and all accompaniments are extra, so the crowd is pretty much limited to people whose wallets are as thick as the steaks -- say, 1 1/2 to 3 1/2 inches. "Go big or stay home" is Queue de Cheval's motto, so don't say you weren't warned. Herringbone brick walls and wide windows create an atmosphere that's half stable, half château.

Beefeaters

Huge portions, great beef and seafood on the pricy side. Suits business people on expense accounts well. Not a place for a romantic dinner, lunch in the small rez de chaussee room is more convivial. Beware of the seating, the hostesses have the tendency to offer you the worst tables.

Ate there twice. Amazing place to see and to be seen. The food is prepare right in the open center kitchen. You can watch your steak being cooked. Extremely pricey ... it cost with wine approximately $150.00 per person... but worth it!
