$$$$, Vieux-Montréal
Fodor's Review:
When the Stones rolled into town in 2003, Mick and the boys took over this lavishly furnished luxury hotel. It was once the Mercantile Bank of Canada, which is why a former boardroom has 20-foot ceilings and lovingly restored murals of hydroelectric dams and waterfalls. Guest rooms include large marble bathrooms with separate tubs and showers and have Bang & Olufsen sound systems; some rooms have gas fireplaces. The hotel restaurant XO is in what used to be the main banking hall. Pros: great, in-room sound systems; decadently luxurious bathrooms; stateliest lobby in the city. Con: Rue St-Jacques is a very quiet street after 6 p.m.
