Fodor's Review:
Three splendidly ornate commercial buildings dating from the Victorian era were merged in 2005 to create Vieux-Montréal's largest boutique hotel. The high-ceiling guest rooms -- some with exposed brick or stone walls -- combine old-fashioned grandeur with sleek modern furnishings. The large bathrooms are tiled in black granite and white marble. The 2,000-square-foot spa includes the city's first hammam, or Middle Eastern-style steam bath. A rooftop bar and restaurant serves sandwiches and grilled entrées at lunch, and a comfortable lobby bar where a complimentary wine-and-cheese is served every afternoon. The Basilique Notre-Dame-de-Montréal is just across the square, and the Palais des Congrès is nearby. Pros: houses the best spa in town and has easy access to the sights of Vieux-Montréal. Cons: rooms are a bit small for the price, and the noontime Angelus bells at the Basilique Notre-Dame-de-Vieux-Montréal across the street can make sleeping late difficult.

Am I glad, I found the Place d'Armes after my poor experience at the W.
Friendly staff, well appointed guestrooms and bathrooms. Book and executive suite, plenty of space. Nice wide shower stall and jaccuzi.
Walking distance to Old Montreal's restaurants and art galeries.
Good spa.
Continental breakfast could be better.
This is where most movie actors stay.
