The Canal and Central Panama Places

Playa Santa Clara

Playa Santa Clara, one of the Central Pacific coast's nicest beaches, with plenty of pale sand and good water for swimming, lies just east of Farallón (Playa Blanca). Santa Clara's hotels have always been comparatively small and catered mostly to Panamanians, but a new all-inclusive Breezes resort promises to change the face of this quiet community. On the western end of the beach is the tiny fishing village of Santa Clara, where dozens of small boats are anchored offshore, and visible from the beach is Isla Farallón, a giant, pale rock that has decent snorkeling around it.

Breezes Panama

Breezes Panama, a new 300-room all-inclusive resort in Santa Clara, opened in October 2009. Because the resort could not be visited before publication of this edition, we are unable to offer a full review, but the brand-new hotel does offer a very different kind of accommodation choice in Santa Clara. It is also SuperClubs' first all-inclusive resort in Panama. Playa Santa Clara. 877/273-3937. www.breezes.com.
