Alto Bayano
The Alto Bayano region is dominated by a large reservoir called Lago Bayano, which is surrounded by pastureland, and forests clinging to the upper slopes of the serranías (mountain ranges) to the north and south. There are various Emberá villages on the rivers that flow into the lake, and a dirt track heads north from it to the autonomous indigenous territory, or comarca, of Kuna Yala, which holds vast expanses of rain forest.
