Families, couples, and business travelers looking for the amenities of a full-service resort, the feel of a destination beach-retreat, and proximity to Panama City's best attractions will find that the Westin elegantly unites all these features in one towering complex. As you enter the property, note the greenhouses on your left; they're the source of nearly all the vegetables in any one of the Westin's six excellent restaurants. The four pools, one of which wends its
way (in canal-like fashion) around a massive outdoor dining pavilion, are not just for swimming. They're for lounging, in partially submerged loungers; enjoying a cocktail, at the swim-up bar; and playing, at the water-volleyball net. Kids get their own pool, which fronts the Westin Kids Club, a supervised activity center for children 4–12. And parents get the voluminous Aquabell Sensory spa, by Clarins. Rooms are spacious and sleek. Get one with an ocean view and watch ships from around the world queue up to enter the Panama canal right from your balcony.

We stayed in 2012 and the resort was just opening really. The food was "resort food" nothing to write home about, but we never went hungry! The scenery was beautiful, inside the resort as well as outside the resort. Our room was comfy. The cleanliness of the hotel was Amazing. The housekeeping staff did a fanstic job in our room daily. The front desk staff could of used a lesson or 2 in hospitality but the concierge desk more than made up for
the front desk personnel. I cannot say enough about the amazing job of the concierge desk, they made all of our arrangements and took a personal interest in us throughout our stay. We did many outside excursions and they all were Amazing! The hotel's distance from things made for an expensive trip to go out and about on our own to wander around but thats okay. The pools in the hotel were amazing, a little WARM for my taste but the cold drinks delivered poolside by my bartender did the trick to alleviate my worries about a warm pool. Very windy at the pool and the umbrellas and sunloungers often blew away... but I was in the water so I didnt care too much. The beach is NOT for swimming, the rocks havent been broken up and its close to the canal so I wouldnt swim in the water anywyas. However we did walk way out on the rocks when the tide was out and that was cool. Lots ond lots of shells if your a collector. The 3 cons I would say about this property ... 1- Shuttle from airport arranged by hotel was HORRID, unorganized and hot and long with the craiest driver ever (I had serious doubts he was even old enough to drive!) 2- Lack of english speaking people everywhere in the resort... but for a new resort we managed and most of the staff did try to understand us. 3-Resort entertainment was lacking ... The same singer 4 nights out of the 7 we were there and the same playlist ... every night. Overall for just opening WESTIN PLAYA BONITA was a great stay and made my honeymoon very memorable. I will hopefully come back in a few years when all the kinks of a new resort have been worked out and enjoy myself more than the first time I visited.
