La Mexicanita

Updated 08/08/2012

Fodor's Review

This unassuming Mexican eatery on the corner of Parque Urracá serves a small selection of homemade Tex-Mex standards at very reasonable prices. Tortillas and chips are house-made, and the guacamole is whipped up to order. There's a fairly predictable lineup that includes soft tacos, enchiladas, burritos, tostadas, and a combo platter called the "Especial La Mexicanita." Wash it down with a Mexican beer, margarita, or horchata (a sweet, cinnamony drink). The ambience

is "nothin' fancy," limited to a few, time-faded Mexican tourism posters, but this place is all about the food.

Don't bother

Went here with my wife, daughter and 2 grand kids. A block away from home. Sullen service. Totally unfriendly. I ordered most expensive dish ($10) pork mole. 3 pieces of pork in a small bowl of chocolate sauce. No rice, beans or salad. No help from staff. Daughters fruit drink tasted of fish. Sent it back. No apologies. No deduction on bill. My wife's dish went unbeaten too. Chicken meal turned out to be a small bowl of chicken/tortilla soup. Wasn't

listed as a soap. Worst $67 I spent in Panama City.
