Uaguinega (Dolphin Island Lodge) Review
The best bungalows at this friendly lodge on a small island across a channel from Achutupo offer the nicest rooms in Kuna Yala. They have spacious, private bathrooms, high thatch roofs, and roomy back porches with splendid ocean views. Keep in mind when you are booking that the older, standard rooms lack the view and are slightly cramped; ask for a junior suite. Those comfortable bungalows are spread along the shore of the grassy island with hammocks strung between palm trees. The only drawbacks are that the island lacks a beach and snorkeling isn't recommended there because of pollution from nearby Achutupo. However, excursions to nearby islands provide beach and snorkeling time, and the tour of Achutupo in English is excellent. Hikes into the forest and to a waterfall are an additional charge.
