This alpine-style resort overlooks sheer rock faces and lush slopes across a wide lawn with fountains. It's a bit timeworn, but rooms are spacious and the ample facilities are family-friendly. Just beyond a forest of towering eucalyptus trees are tennis courts, an indoor-outdoor pool, a Jacuzzi, and a sauna. You can hike a forest trail, go horseback riding, and take day tours, all arranged by the hotel. Rooms have hardwood floors and picture windows that let in the verdant view. Junior suites have balconies, while master suites have bedroom lofts. Las Truchas restaurant ($$-$$$) next door specializes in fresh trout and offers everything from pastas to chateaubriand.
